As affiliate marketing becomes more popular, it builds more competition. In this line of business, you need to have a unique voice to be successful.
If 100 people are promoting the same product that you are, how will you stand out from the crowd, and make that sale?
One of the first things I would recommend is to have your own site. Whether you choose to have a simple landing page, or a dedicated site full of content, you’ll be able to stand apart and work to build an authority site that people will rely on for information.
People have problems and are searching for answers. If you have a website, you can provide answers, as well as recommend products or services that will help this potential customer.
Some people choose to use ads to promote affiliate products. They will take out an ad on Google, and the URL they will use will go directly to the site you’re promoting. Some companies allow this, others want you to have your own landing page or website, and don’t allow direct linking. It’s up to you to read the terms of service if you join a program as an affiliate.
I highly recommend taking the time to create your own website, which you will then use as a launching site which can direct to affiliate sites. Unique, targeted content is the best way to stand apart. What do you offer that other sites on that same topic don’t?
The goal is for customers to click on your links, ads or banners to drive them to other sites so you can earn a commission. Another way that people do this is through email marketing.
You will offer information, and create an opt-in list. You can then market to the people on your mailing list, promoting information and products. This will not work unless you have built a trusted relationship. If you only push products, it will start to feel like SPAM, so you want to offer quality to your list.
With different avenues of driving traffic, you’ll find that soon you’ll be making that first affiliate sale. It’s a great feeling, and will push you to work to make more sales!
